Exploring the wikis listed in the exercises revealed a blog on Gaming in the library, http://www.libsuccess.org/index.php?title=Services_for_Teens a topic circulating amongst our library team at the moment, hmm why not create a wiki were we can compare our thoughts, discuss the pros and cons of different gaming systems?

Flickr addiction

I have to admit it I am addicted to Flickr , turned pro about 8 months ago, just so I could feed my habit.
From a personal view it is a great way to share a hobby, make that passion, with photographers locally and around the world, digital photography and the internet where made for each other.

From a library and particularly a local studies resource, the response to local events reflected in some flickr groups, the Newcastle June Storm of 2007 for example show how local photographers
recorded that event. The ability to comment on images and share a common experience showed that all thought the vastness of the internet was the common platform the sense of local community was strongly to the fore.

Libraries could establish their own Flickr group or similar to preserve this contemporary image history.

Time flashes by...

Enjoyed the Web 2.0 ...The machine is Us/ing us, ended up watching it several times, the idea of revision, rewriting, editing text , editing content constant change epitomizes the web to me.

In my search on "how to a write my blog" I came across what I thought might be of interest to others,
Question: how to insert a hyperlink?
Answer: Google it ,
find the link button,

Link the site :http://www.nybooks.com/articles/21013
And then, throw it a quote to whet the appetite

"The word "blog" is a portmanteau term for Web log or Weblog. In 1997 Jorn Barger, the keeper of Robot Wisdom, a Web site full of writings about James Joyce, artificial intelligence, and Judaism as racism (he's reputedly a racist himself), coined the word "Weblog." In 1999 Peter Merholz, the author of a Weblog called Peterme, split it in two like this—"We blog"— creating a word that could serve as either noun or verb. "Blog" was born."

What was that Habit 5, create your own tool box? soon I'll have to build a garage to keep it in.

A Beginning

I feel slightly selfconscience about committing myself to the web, hesitant as a novelist must feel when confronted with that first blank page.
But already the page is no longer blank.
